Kiya West, Director of Operations

Kiya J. West (She/her/hers)

When people think about a therapy practice, they often think about therapists.

They think about the conversations that happen in session, the healing that takes place, and the relationships that are built between clinicians and clients.

What many people don’t see is the work happening behind the scenes that makes those experiences possible.

At According To Sykes, that work is led by Kiya West, our Clinical Director of Operations.

The Person Behind the Process

For more than 26 years, Kiya has built a career centered on helping organizations function at their best. Her experience spans office management, administrative leadership, project coordination, client relations, event planning, and operational strategy across a variety of industries, including public relations, marketing, management consulting, and behavioral health.

Throughout her career, she has developed a reputation for organization, adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate needs before they arise.

Simply put, she knows how to make complex systems work.

Why Operations Matter in Mental Health

When people seek therapy, they are often navigating stress, uncertainty, grief, trauma, or major life transitions. The last thing they need is confusion around scheduling, paperwork, communication, or access to care.

Kiya understands that operational excellence is about more than efficiency.

It is about creating an environment where clients feel supported from their very first interaction with the practice.

Every streamlined process, timely response, organized system, and thoughtful client experience contributes to the larger healing journey.

Supporting the People Who Support Others

At According To Sykes, caring for clients also means caring for clinicians.

Kiya plays a critical role in helping the practice operate smoothly so that therapists can focus on what they do best: supporting healing and growth.

From improving workflows and implementing new systems to supporting practice-wide initiatives and clinician wellness efforts, her work helps create the foundation that allows the clinical team to thrive.

Her leadership has contributed to improved processes, enhanced client experiences, and a stronger operational infrastructure across the practice.

A Commitment to Growth and Innovation

Kiya holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Robert Morris University and a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University.

She brings both strategic thinking and practical experience to her role, continuously looking for ways to improve systems, strengthen communication, and support the evolving needs of the practice and community.

As the behavioral health landscape continues to change, she remains committed to implementing innovative solutions that increase accessibility, strengthen operations, and support the delivery of high-quality care.

More Than Operations

While Kiya’s title focuses on operations, her work is ultimately about people.

She believes that strong systems create opportunities for healing. By helping clients feel supported and clinicians feel empowered, she contributes to the mission that guides everything we do at According To Sykes.

Behind every appointment, every workshop, every initiative, and every successful day at ATS is a team of people committed to making healing more accessible.

Kiya is one of those people, and we are grateful for her leadership, dedication, and vision.
