It’s completely normal to feel unsure or even nervous about starting therapy; many people begin this process with questions about what to say, how it works, or whether it’s the right fit.
Therapy at ATS is designed to move at your pace. There is no expectation that you have everything figured out or that you need to share anything before you’re ready. Your first sessions are an opportunity to begin where you are—whether that’s with a specific concern, a general sense of feeling overwhelmed, or simply curiosity about the process.
Over time, you and your clinician will work collaboratively to explore what feels most important, with attention to your experiences, identity, and goals. Finding the right fit is an important part of this process, and you are always welcome to meet with different clinicians to ensure alignment.
Above all, our aim is to create a space where you feel supported, respected, and able to engage in a way that feels meaningful to you.
We work with individuals seeking thoughtful, reflective, and relational care. If you are looking for a space that integrates clinical expertise with attention to culture, identity, and lived experience, ATS may be a strong fit. At the core of our work is a commitment to helping each person feel seen, heard, and empowered within the therapeutic process.
We recommend starting with a consultation to explore alignment.
Getting started depends on the availability of your desired clinician. We invite you to schedule a free consultation at your earliest convenience to begin exploring fit and next steps.
If you have any questions or need support, our Director of Operations is available to assist. Just drop your question in the Contact Box below!
Consultations are complimentary and typically last about 15 minutes. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to meet your clinician, learn more about their approach and style, and explore whether the fit feels right for you.
You are welcome to consult with multiple clinicians to find the best match.
At According To Sykes, being rooted in decolonization means we actively examine how historical, cultural, and systemic forces shape mental health, identity, and care. Our work invites reflection on power, narrative, and lived experience, and seeks to create therapeutic spaces that are culturally responsive, relational, and grounded in equity and dignity.
Finding the right fit is an important part of the therapeutic process. If you feel you’d benefit from working with a different clinician, you’re welcome to discuss this with your current therapist or request a consultation with another clinician of your choice.
We’re here to support you in finding what feels most aligned.
